The house builders from TV love their heat pump
The Skarby couple in Abbekås have made their dream house a reality. To heat the house, they have installed an air-to-water heat pump, which heats the villa in no time.
Fascinated by the heat pump
- I've gone out in the evenings and looked at the heat pump because I've been so fascinated," says Göran Skarby.
If you've seen SVT's programme Husdrömmar with Anne Lundberg and star chef Gert Wingårdh, you might know who Göran and Pippi Skarby are. They appeared in the 2020 season and were featured as the party prizes who made a mega build of their holiday home.
When CTC meets them, they have just installed their air-to-water heat pump.
- It's amazing the heat we have in the house. You don't need to go to the Canary Islands to see how nice it is," says Göran Skarby.

Hot quickly
He says their boiler was filled with almost 600 litres of cold water when they started the heat pump. A few hours later, the whole house, which is almost 400 square metres, was warm.
- It's a well-insulated house. But still, that it got hot so quickly. I couldn't believe it," he says.
They gave up their home in Limhamn in Malmö and moved to the holiday home in Abbekås on the south coast of Skåne. They decided to extend the original 90 square metre house by over 300 square metres. A substantial extension so that visiting friends and family can stay over when they come for parties.
I've gone out in the evenings and looked at the heat pump because I've been so fascinated.
The extension is made of the same traditional Skåne house type as the original - stone. A bricked and plastered house creates a lot of building moisture, which has made the construction process take a relatively long time. It is important that the house is allowed to dry properly so that the plaster does not crack later.
- It's taken time, but we're almost fully moved in," says Göran Skarby as he admires the iron staircase they've just built.
They have a small wind turbine on the plot and the roof is full of solar panels. The dream is to be completely self-sufficient in electricity from renewable sources.
- We are very happy with our construction. The house is very spacious and lets in a lot of light, without being a glass house.
Facts:
- Göran and Pippi Skarby were featured in SVT's popular programme Husdrömmar in 2020. Their house is located in the small fishing community of Abbekås between Ystad and Trelleborg on the south coast of Skåne.
- Their existing house was 90 square metres and the extension is just over 300 square metres. They are putting solar cells on the roof and adding a wind turbine. This is to try to be self-sufficient in electricity.
- A CTC air-to-water heat pump heats their underfloor heating system. They have CTC's largest model, an EcoAir 622M, which converts outdoor air into indoor heat.
- The heart of their heating system is the CTC EcoZenith i555 Pro multi-tank. It can control all components of one or more heating systems and has a capacity of 600 litres of hot water.
- With CTC's air-to-water heat pumps, you can reduce heating costs by up to 75 percent.
