Welcome aboard!

It's warm and cozy on board thanks to the marine heat pump. Visitors to the yacht United Spirit don't have to be cold.

- "A sea heat pump on board a boat provides great comfort," says Roger Broberg, salesman at the heat pump manufacturer CTC in Lungby.

The yacht United Spirit, 34 meters long and with a maximum speed of more than 30 knots, has crossed the world's oceans and housed many celebrities.

The financier Torsten Krüger built it in 1938. Amused by large and fast luxury yachts, he owned the boat until his death in the 1970s.

But a boat crossing the world's oceans obviously needs a safe and efficient heating system on board. CTC's Roger Broberg helped develop the best solution for United Spirit: a CTC EcoPart marine heat pump, which was installed in the tight space next to the boat's engines.

The CTC EcoPart marine heat pump is compact and speed-controlled, meaning it adapts its operation to the energy demand. It has the highest energy class and is ideal for spaces with low ceilings. Up to ten heat pumps can also be interconnected.

The heat pump is small and flexible. Even though there is little space at the bottom of the boat, it was easy to install," says Roger Broberg.

Has a flexible connection

The heat pump also has a flexible connection so that the refrigerant system can easily be connected to the right, left, top or back of the pump. The energy for the heat on board is taken via a heat exchanger submerged in the lake.

- In summer, nights on a yacht can be quite chilly, especially if it's raining and windy. Now the heat on board is always good.

Facts about United Spirit:

  • United Spirit was built at Götaverken and designed by Knut Ljungberg. She is built in aluminum and has been fitted with a special surface, a sandwich composite, which provides a calm ride at sea despite the high speeds.
  • The ship has three double cabins with built-in wardrobes and bathrooms. There is also a cabin with a bunk bed and cabins for the crew.
  • The engines are MTU M20-10 of 1360 horsepower each and the maximum speed of the 34 meter long and 5 meter narrow vessel is over 30 knots.
